Trees of yesterday today.
The tree hid the large carnivore talons beneath its branch
Holding on tight brain to claw peering about the canopy
Balancing its statuette same feather folded wings
The little cries coming from on high varying
The sharp of the cries from branch to tree to tree
Grasping the sheath which held the shining blade
Therein its port belonging, holster, to the challenge
That came about with the history of the forest thick trees
And break in the green to sunlight pouring down
Through the sky in the forest break to streams and seas
The tree which grew and grew into the sky kept true
The forest wide and about where bears deer wolves and cats
Ate scratched and climbed the great standing forest
The visitations of others marked their visit to the trees
Calling aloud and so spoke and echoed by the depth
The distance in the trees forest caves and hills
Leaving his footprints in the soft earth and fingerprints
In time a road was begun and the forest grew and regrew
With branch and leaf on the wayside breaking darkness
Nests which ruled the day and held to the night tree to tree
Where now the caves draw notice written on the dark walls
Gathered and widen to where the family and food were shared
The first classroom walls were etched in the language of the hunt
Where the hunt and hand with planning ended the great hunger
In the fields at trees ends those sketches on stone reveal
The learning tool to communicate from cave to grave
Where man and beast challenge each other to survive
You cannot fly man think from the cave but outside the box
The wheel and beyond the caves window beyond the seas
Now as is watched the bread basket for all to share
The birds that migrate find and rebuild old and new nests
But still against the seasons creatures try to survive
The coming sky’s and cold sleeping trees in winters hold
A long way through the forest and from the caves to
The great cities and standings of Rome in the midst
The earliest center of human habitat never forgot
The soul behind the stone and from the cave wrote
The history some say about the creatures from space
None the best true or false only the earliest trees surprisingly
Continue in some magnificent show their leafs breathing life
Their fruit the joy more than likely shared tree to hand, Adam and Eve
No tree no hand no sword the protector
The stones story the trees upheld their part.
